Protection Plate for Petromax Lantern The protection plate is a popular part for any Petromax high-pressure lamps. When the lamp is burned with a damaged mantle, small but very hot flames can push through holes in the mantle and damage your lantern and or compromise joints in the tank. The protection plate shields the tank from damage even when the lantern is burned with a damaged mantle. It's included with your new lamp, but is considered a sacrificial part. It will be compromised if the lamp is burned with a damaged plate. For this reason, we recommend keeping one on hand to ensure uninterrupted safe use of your lantern. This plate fits lamps built during or after 2000. You can recognize them because the supporting rod is screwed to the frame. For the lamps built before 2000, the supporting rod is riveted to the frame.Material: Brass with polished finish or brass with nickel/chrome plating. Dimensions 4.5" diam, approx. 1" tall.
